Compare Hosts: HostGator, BlueHost, and DreamHost

We’ve decided to do a little comparison of some of the best web hosting providers and follow the number of active name servers they have, just to see how much success each achieves over the next few months and how they compare with each other. Let’s start with a look at where each is currently: BlueHost 995,560, HostGator 993,399, and DreamHost 976,996.

Right now that may not mean a whole lot other than they are all pretty close to 1 million active name servers and that seems like a pretty impressive number. But as we continue to watch the growth of these three companies it should prove to be pretty interesting to see how those numbers change.

It is also interesting to see what each host offers in comparison to the others. BlueHost has a focus of just one main shared web hosting plan. It offers everything you need to have a successful personal or business website. You don’t have a lot of decisions to make because that is all there is. With HostGator you have TONS of options. So if you know what you want and need this is great.  Check out their web hosting plans and see which is just right for you. Or if you want to do reseller hosting, VPS hosting or need a dedicated server, HostGator offers all of these. So where does that leave DreamHost? Well DreamHost is kind of a combo of the two.  They only offer one main shared web hosting plan, but they also offer VPS hosting, dedicated servers, colocation, domain registration and more. Each has established a well known and trusted name for themselves. It will be really interesting to see how the competition plays out.
